A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and ambitious individual to join our talented clerking team as Practice Manager.

About the role

The jobholder is responsible for managing all tasks related to the provision of the 25 Canada Square Chambers service, ensuring the effective running of Chambers and implementing strategies to expand chambers. This will include management of the Clerk for 25CSC.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the quality of the chambers services is developed and maintained, and clients are satisfied with the chambers service.
  • Quoting and negotiating all fees on behalf of members of 25 Canada Square Chambers.
  • Managing Counsel’s diary including allocating cases to Counsel, allowing them access to the case papers/updates from clients and ensuring jobs are ready to be closed .
  • Alongside the Clerk, processing job bookings received via email or phone, sending out terms and conditions to new clients, ensuring all job details are input correctly into LEX.
  • Chasing and/or receiving papers from clients, checking papers and processing them directly onto LEX.
  • Tracking all outstanding jobs (e.g. attendance notes, invoices) on LEX and ensuring client records are accurately updated and maintained in conjunction with the Accounts Clerk.
  • In conjunction with CRM, management of the 25CSC brand and associated media including:
    • websites, materials, literature, exhibition displays, flyers and sponsorship,
    • social media, both in terms of putting up regular content and active engagement on channels (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram, X etc.) and producing a monthly report of company activities
  • Attending industry and networking events with a view to developing business opportunities for chambers.
  • Under the direction of the Consultant and Compliance Officer for Legal Practice, ensuring 25CSC acts in compliance with company policies and BSB Guidance as an AETO.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience of diary and case management, in a similarly fast paced Chambers or legal services environment.
  • Working knowledge of Lex Chambers Management Software, or relevant training.
  • Experience of negotiating and agreeing fees.
  • A hands-on approach to all tasks carried out by the team is a must.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, communicating effectively with individuals at all levels, to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Experience of Chambers areas of specialism.
