Anna Roffey has a broad civil practice encompassing Chambers’ principal practice areas. She is regularly instructed in the High Court and County Court throughout England and Wales, acting for individuals, businesses, major financial institutions and other institutional clients.

Her practice includes commercial and contractual disputes, insolvency, property and landlord and tenant matters, mortgage possession proceedings, consumer credit and financial services litigation, and general civil litigation. She has substantial experience of contested applications, trials, appeals and case and costs management hearings, and regularly deals with technically and procedurally complex cases.

Anna has particular experience in banking and financial services litigation. She has acted extensively for banks and creditors in consumer credit and financial services disputes, including claims concerning payment protection insurance, unfair relationships under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, mortgage possession and related regulatory issues.

Anna has undertaken regulatory and investigatory work, including large-scale documentary evidence review and disclosure exercises. She is experienced in analysing substantial volumes of complex material, identifying relevant evidence and issues, and undertaking review work requiring careful consideration of relevance, confidentiality and legal professional privilege.

Before coming to the Bar, Anna had a career in aviation spanning more than 20 years. For 12 years she was the chair and convenor of a large trade union branch, giving her extensive experience of industrial relations, collective representation and negotiation. Anna was called to the Bar in 2014, having studied law and completed her professional training while working full time. She subsequently obtained further qualifications in international air law and aviation regulation. Anna also acts as an independent external expert to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), contributing across a number of disciplines, including legal and regulatory matters.

Alongside her litigation practice, Anna is an accredited civil, commercial and workplace mediator. She has also worked as a mediation trainer and assessor since 2016. Drawing on her previous industrial relations experience, she has particular expertise in workplace mediation, conflict resolution and mediation training.
