WHAT WAS YOUR JOURNEY TO PRACTISING AT THE BAR?
I began my career as a paralegal at a mid-sized firm before completing my period of cognised training in 1 year and 6 months (not the usual 2 years) in 2018.
I qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate rather than a normal Solicitor having already attained higher rights of audience in the civil arena.
I then went to work at the in-house chambers of one of the largest law firms in the UK.
After nearly a year in-house, I became a self-employed Solicitor-Advocate and gained experience dealing with a great variety of matters and trials on all of the county court’s case management tracks and also appearing in the Magistrates’ Court under that Court’s civil jurisdiction.
I then joined 25 Canada Square Chambers in 2022. Where I have acted for prestigious clients including some of the largest financial institutions in the country.
I made my application to transfer to the Bar in late 2024 and was granted a full exemption from all aspects pre-qualification criteria, including pupillage.
I was called to the Bar in 2025 and obtained my practising certificate with full right of audience.
WHAT DOES YOUR TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE FOR A FORTNIGHT LOOK LIKE?
My fortnightly schedule typically sees me in court representing clients on most days. I do not go more than a week without attending a trial of some description.
I also regularly represent client’s in the High Court business and property division in insolvency proceedings.
I also have regular work relating to injunctions before CJs and appeal hearings.
I also normally have drafting to complete, ranging from advices of quantum, liability and causation. As well as pleadings of all types.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF BEING A MEMBER OF 25CSC?
I am kept busy with work. The clerking team is diligent in making sure the diary is as full as possible. They know my level of experience, and they are good at giving me work that is appropriate for my experience, and that keeps me engaged and excited about my work.
OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS, WHAT ARE YOU AIMING TO DEVELOP IN YOUR PRACTICE?
In the next few years, I will be concentrating on deepening my relationship with the valued clients of 25 Canada Square Chamber and providing them with a service which is personal as well as professional.
I hope to do more in the High Court and in relation to appeals, as well as more high-value Multi-Track trials.
