Open Justice Consultation Begins

A consultation titled, Open Justice: the way forward has been launched by the Ministry of Justice.

Responses via email are invited from legal professionals as well as other stakeholders. The Department has set out 65 questions pertaining to aspects of open justice, including asking respondents to give their own definition of the term, and canvassing views on the use of remote hearings. Other topics include the interaction of journalists and broadcasters with the Courts and Tribunals, including a request for views on the livestreaming of hearings and the ability for reporters to observe proceedings remotely. The aspect of reporting restrictions is also touched upon.

The Call for Evidence is open until 11:59pm on 7 September 2023.
