Barrister

James Stonehouse’s practice encompasses all of Chambers’ Practice Areas and he is regularly instructed on matters in the High Courts and County Courts throughout England and Wales, by some of the largest law firms and financial institutions.


James was born and grew up in Whitby, North Yorkshire; having obtained his Law degree from the University of Durham and studied the Bar Vocational Course in Bristol. James attended hearings across the Country before settling in Sheffield.


James has represented both Claimants and Defendants since 2008 in the County Courts and has attended in excess of 6,000 hearings. In 2012 James cross-qualified as a Solicitor and subsequently obtained his Higher Rights in Civil Proceedings; he is described as a confident and articulate Advocate, being regularly instructed by large financial institutions in complex litigation.


Outside of work James enjoys playing the trumpet and piano, walking and cycling in the Peak District and cooking.
